WHO WE ARE

Brooks Evangelical Free Church has served the community of Brooks since 1943, and this is an exciting and crucial time in our history! We are blessed with people of all ages in our congregation, including many young families and newcomers almost every Sunday. We are in a period of thriving and growth and we give God the glory for this! As we seek God’s guidance to disciple people in the truths of scripture and how to live for God’s glory, we trust God to connect us with someone who will join us in developing disciples and equipping faithful leaders.

We currently have a staff of three pastors and an administrative assistant, with one pastor retiring in the next few months. Our current attendance is 250-280 on a Sunday morning. With many young families, our children’s program has 75 kids mid-week and approximately 50 kids on Sundays. Some of our other ministries include children’s and youth groups, small group Bible studies, an ESL group and others, filled with people from our congregation as well as the surrounding community.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO US

The purpose of BEFC is to keep our eyes up on Jesus, to live in gospel-centered community, and to go out on mission, all for the glory of God.

We strive to teach and apply God’s word, in order to equip people for all areas of life, and make Jesus known in every household in the County of Newell.

We desire and value growth in our people in these five key areas: A growing esteem for Jesus Christ, a discernible spirit of repentance, a dogged devotion to the Word of God, an interest in theology and doctrine, and an evident love for God and neighbour.

We embrace the Evangelical Free Church of Canada’s Statement of Faith found here:

 OUR COMMUNITY

The City of Brooks is one of the fastest growing communities in Alberta! It has a unique, multi-cultural demographic, boasting a population of 16,817. Brooks is in the heart of south-eastern Alberta, located ideally between the larger cities of Calgary, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. For the outdoor enthusiast, just to the north is Dinosaur Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To the south is Lake Newell, the largest and warmest lake in southern Alberta and a major attraction for the camper, fisherman, boater and sailor. There are plenty of recreational and entertainment opportunities right within the city!

The City is further described as the "The City of 100 Hellos", regularly welcoming new Canadians into our community. This also means that we have an international mission field right outside the doors of our church! Brooks is steadily growing with residential and commercial development, with a wide range of restaurants, grocery and retail outlets plus educational facilities including the Medicine Hat College, 2 high schools, 3 junior high schools, 4 elementary schools, Newell Christian School and a Francophone school. It is a wonderful place to raise a family!
