The Brooks Evangelical Free Church has a wonderful history of growth since it first began. Starting out in a small house and evolving into the building on 2 nd St W. that served as home for many years. In 1997 that church growth expanded into a new building that we still utilize today. 28 years later and this building is beginning to show its age. The trustees, church board, and church membership have approved an exterior siding replacement to be completed this spring. The original stucco has failed beyond repair and will be removed and replaced with a combination of LP Smart board and 24 gauge board and batten metal siding. The project will begin this spring as materials show up and take an estimated 6-8 weeks to complete. As part of this project the remaining wood windows will be replaced. The estimated cost of the exterior siding and window replacement is $180,500.
As you consider partnering together to maintain the physical structure of Brooks Evangelical Free Church, I want you to evaluate what is the church? Article 7 from The Gospel Truths (E-free theology book) states: “The church is to be a provisional expression of that new humanity united in Christ which God has graciously purposed to create for his own glory. So the church is missional in its very nature - who we are is an important part of our proclamation of the gospel to the world. For God’s gospel is embodied in this new community called the church.” (pg.183) Past investments were made to establish our churches physical presence in Brooks. The building has helped us keep our eyes upon Jesus, grow in gospel centered community, and to go out on mission, all for the glory of God. This project is another opportunity to “dig in and discover the riches that can be had as we live out God’s purpose in real fellowship in the life of a local church. For without a commitment to the local church, we haven’t rightly understood God’s gospel.” (pg.183)
Please continue to pray over our church building, that it would be a gathering place to re-energize people each week to share the gospel in all we do, welcome new people to faith, and build relationship with a Christ-centered focus. If you wish to bless our church financially there will be a separate account set up that you can donate to for this project, simply mark your offering "Capital Improvement Fund".
I look forward to seeing where God will work in each of our lives!
